2.12.26 I FACILITATOR SPOTLIGHT: CATHERINE MURRAY
Catherine Murray facilitates individual and group yoga sessions offering vinyasa flow as an embodied art form - a practice that moves like a prayer: mindful, rhythmic, and physically invigorating. Her offerings blend creative sequencing with intentional challenge, inviting an exploration of strength, fluidity, and presence in equal measure.
Drawing on her background as a teacher of literature and written arts, Catherine approaches yoga as a form of storytelling. She weaves myth and metaphor into her classes, guiding movement with narrative and poetic resonance. Each practice unfolds like a story - inviting curiosity, imagination, and a deep connection to both body and breath.
Catherine is also adept at guiding yin yoga, slow flow, and restorative practices, holding space for stillness, deep listening, and nervous system care. She is especially passionate about serving teens and people living with mobility constraints, crafting inclusive and accessible experiences that honor each body’s unique wisdom.
She serves as a mentor for both the 200-hour and 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training programs at Community Yoga Center, supporting emerging faciitators with clarity, care, and open-hearted leadership. As co-chair of the House Committee at CYC, Catherine lovingly tends to the physical yoga space, creating a welcoming environment to gather and practice.
Catherine offers The Art of Vinyasa, a dynamic vinyasa flow that optimizes energetic activation on Saturdays 7:30–8:45am and Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30–5:20pm. She also offers Grand Rising, a centering morning flow emphasizing energetic sensitization on Wednesdays and Fridays 6–7am.
