1.18.26 I ALL-BODIES ASHTANGA: A RARE SPACE I KRISTIN VARNER

This week on the mat was Ashta-awesome! Bodies moving and breathing, hearts opening – together a little more Ashta-aware and Ashta-alive. It was Ashta-amazing!

What makes this practice truly special is its accessibility. Ashtanga yoga is known for being intense, advanced, or only for certain body types - but at Community Yoga Center, it’s for everyone. Every body, every background, every experience level is welcome. This is all-abilities Ashtanga, and it rare. Very rare.

I am deeply grateful to Kimberly Jones, whose knowledge, skill, and unwavering commitment make this unique practice possible. Her service, guidance, and dedication create the space where we can all move, breathe, and belong. This practice is only what it is because of her love for yoga and willingness to share what she loves.

Our ashtanga gatherings challenge the assumptions that yoga is “not for you.” There’s no pressure to hit a certain pose, no expectation of prior experience, and no cost to practice with us. This practice isn’t sold - it’s shared from the heart.

In this space, differences are celebrated, abilities are honored, and curiosity is encouraged. You can move in ways that feel safe and joyful for your body, explore your breath, and connect with others. Together, we co-create a community where everyone belongs, where yoga is a resource for health and wellness, not exclusivity.

If you’ve ever wondered what Ashtanga could feel like for your body, this is your invitation. Come as you are. Step onto the mat. Breathe. Move. Open. Leave a little more alive than when you arrived.
