Peer groups help create a collaborative and experiential learning environment among your cohort. It’s a space where you can grow together - not just as individuals - but as a community. Peer groups encourage mutual support and provide the opportunity to help each other understand concepts, practice facilitating, and process challenges. It’s in peer groups that confidence is built, insight is exchanged, and community is formed. Peer groups help foster a sense of belonging during what is often a deeply transformative process.
Peer groups are comprised of the same folks as your mentor group but without the mentor. They meet exactly one week after your mentor group (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday). September through April (there is no peer group in December). All peer groups dates are listed on the course calendar. Each peer group decides whether they’d like to meet virtually or in-person at Community Yoga Center or another location.
Each peer group meeting is facilitated by a member of the peer group. All members take turns in this role. The role of the peer facilitator is to send a meeting reminder in advance of the peer group meeting (with on-line Zoom link and credentials if meeting virtually), keep the time for the group discussions and skill-building practices, follow up with anyone who may have missed that session, and report peer group attendance to the mentor group facilitators.
